Infant Consciousness: How, Where, Whether, When, What?
Five questions about infant consciousness are addressed. First, methodology: How can we study consciousness in infants? Second, neurobiology: Where in the brain is infant consciousness (or its neural basis) located? Third, existence: Whether newborn infants are conscious. Fourth, development: When does consciousness emerge in human development? Fifth, phenomenology: What is infant consciousness like? These questions are used to review the current state of the science and philosophy of infant consciousness. that we see not only “what” and “where”, but also “how”.
